Apart from the items noted in research, what else might affect our overall sense of wellness? For example:

« What might contribute to that special sense of affinity or friendship we feel when living well in the word with others?

« What might we seek after having fulfilled our safety, shelter, and physical health needs? (Potentially also, before having met those needs: what inner search might we begin?)

When pondering these ideas, whilst looking out into a part of the world at a particularly lovely point in time, I noted a few things. The result of this modest exercise in reflection is presented below.

For those who are curious, here are a few things that I found especially useful on my personal path towards the Divine/Self.

1. Bhakti; love. For an explanation of what I mean by bhakti, visit any of the sub-pages in the Bhakti & Love section.
2. Prayer (frequent and devoted), asking to be guided rightly, and the corresponding development of intuitive faculties.
3. Introspection, and corresponding self/ego work.
4. Mantra/Japam...I believe the technical name for my specific actions in this regard, is Japa Sadhana.
5. Practicing to feel or notice, both on or at and then also through the place between one's eyebrows in the center of one's forehead. For a nice visual, you might refer to the placement of 'the third eye' in images of Shiva. Remembering to feel and actually feeling this place (without touching it with one's fingers), at different times throughout the day. Then also: focusing past or through this point, upwards (as high as possible), during meditative practice; mantra yoga; japa sadhana.
6. Jnana Yoga; for me this meant regular and wise reading of a variety of religious/spiritual/philosophical texts.
7. Meditation, especially Kriyayoga meditation.
8. Vegetarianism.
9. Abstinence. Now in my case, this meant joyfully self-restricting a lot of activities (in addition to relationships) in order to better uptake and integrate a particular outlook on life or perspective, namely: noting the Infinite nature of all. Specifically , I would emphasize reading of the Divine, seeing the Divine (i.e. everywhere in the world, in me, via spiritually-focused movies, practicing to see All as part of the same Truth, etc.), listening to meditative, devotional songs, or inspiring songs, etc. Practicing remembrance of the Divine via each of the senses, as well as within, as well as throughout all, in the world ...which all helped me focus my mind.
10. Satsanga. For me this meant discrimination in regards to what kind of company I would particularly benefit and benefit from, at various stages. This could entail everything from attending worship services, practicing meditative yoga with a group, being among especially loving people, keeping spiritually-focused company and, spending time alone.
11. Kriyayoga meditation in itself (apart from other meditative techniques). As taught by Yogi Satyam, this technique is excellent.

Basically, devotion became a lifestyle, and my lifestyle of choice at that. Via the manifestation of personal miracles, answered prayers, and a strongly developing intuitive faculty and resultant shifts in Consciousness or deepening awareness, I began to see paths that I should take and those that I should lovingly defer from for a time, and the like. Notably, however, Everything is the Divine at work; perhaps better put: there is only One Source from which All arises...and that One is the Self of all.

...I'd also say that following experiences of One-ness (as explicated in much of my poetry), there arose a sort of coaxing for me to be re-integrated into all/other/many different aspects of life. At one point you see, I would have much preferred to stay placed solely in a sort of quiet practice of bhakti; a sort of enjoyment of innerness and similar things, without venturing outward too frequently. This is because I found this sort of quietude to be all Joy, all Bliss, all Everything, Pure Potential; a deep enjoyment of pure Being, after all, and, a very peaceable way of enjoying existence.

In retrospect, I see the importance of (to borrow a phrase), staying "in the world." Now, I both deeply understand the rapture of Bliss and the value of remaining involved in the world or worldliness (to some degree).

Everything is a gift from the Divine. Everything is Divine at work, or at play. Freedom and Bliss are your birthrights. From my experiences of profound One-ness, I can say that there is nothing at all to be noted in Truth but Bliss, Blessedness, Perfect Love, Supreme Consciousness, Harmony, Peace, Infinite Power, and Eternal Life... everywhere. Yet, to be in a Consciousness of Innocence and remember it always; to be Loving and stay placed that way — to know Love even for the smallest moment in time and keep its memory while everywhere in the world, to be in Bliss and remain there, to be in that place where Shakti sits with Shiva (as I've described it in a poem or two) while deeply engaged in worldly affairs ...well.... I think that, at least, might take a little effort and therefore a steadfast, channeled mind/intention, a clear and strong dose of love and emotional maturity, and similar things. Seeking the Divine — while the Divine is yet closest to you — can be difficult, yet beautiful, infinitely rewarding and natural course. To this end, I hope this entire site is helpful to you.

With Loving Best Wishes...
