"the torah"
here is an image of the
torah and
yad (pointer).
in the jewish faith, the word torah means law, scribe,
or teaching (source: wikipedia/torah), yet torah can also refer
to the "five books of moses" (i.e. genesis, exodus, leviticus,
numbers and deuteronomy), "as well as the entire jewish bible"
(i.e. the tanakh or written torah), "or in its
broadest sense, to the whole body of jewish law and teachings"
(source: judaism/torah).
in the jewish faith, while people are born with a
yetzer ha-tov (i.e. a tendency to do good),
and a yetzer hara (i.e. a tendency to do evil),
both are best understood "not only as moral
categories of good and evil but as the inherent
conflict within man between selfless and selfish
orientations" (wikipedia/jewish principles of faith).
